SCREEN FABRICATION TECHNICIAN

SUMMARYKey production position which directly contributes to the success of the company by participating in the day-to-day screen fabrication process.
Checks schedule in ERP system for desired quantity, date and priority to produce a high-quality product.
Adheres to the work schedule for department operations in conjunction with production schedule.
Responsible for understanding and following all policies, practices, and standard operating procedures of the company.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES1) Maintains the highest quality and safety standards in the organization through compliance with the Schilling Inc.
policies, procedure and practices.
2) Reads, interprets and verifies accuracy of SOP's related to screen fabrication process.
3) Reviews available jobs and determines what screen-fabrication needs are required to complete that operation.
4) Encompasses the following operations:
a) Frame Prep - Selects and prepares the frame by cleaning, applying of adhesive and delivers frame to Stretching.
b) Stretching - Places frame in stretching system to appropriately stretch and apply mesh with adhesive to frame.
c) Coating - Coats screen with emulsion using an automatic coater.
d) Imaging - Places screen in imaging system in order to add image to the screen.
e) Developing - Rinses screen with water to develop the image.
f) Block-Out - Applies a filler coating on the print side of the screen.
g) Physical Inspection - Performs physical quality checks of the screen.
h) Masking Cut - Uses automated machine to cut various materials to be applied to screen.
i) Masking Apply - Applies the various materials to the screen.
j) Visual/Final Inspection - Performs visual checks and final inspections to make sure screen meets all customer requirements.
5) Understands the different variables of screen fabrication and how it impacts the overall quality and successful outcome of the product for the customer.
6) Responsible for making sure that the grounds, the interior of the facility and individual workspaces are kept to the neatest and cleanest standards.
7) Demonstrates consistent, clear and proactive workmanship that will motivate and partner with team members and produce the highest quality products.
8) Has a full working knowledge of ERP System and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
9) Committed to continuous improvement initiatives and work alignment of business objectives and goals.
10) Improves production and processes by identifying and communicating ideas/thoughts to which will improve safety, increase production and reduce overall costs.
11) Adheres to workplace schedule and all aspects of production to meet and exceed customer requirements and expectations including:
a) Completing production work schedule in the company's ERP system, b) Reporting of frame inventory and mesh consignment to Lead/Supervisor, c) Maintaining all production materials and reporting to Lead/Supervisor in a timely manner when inventory is low.
12) Observes company employee practices and policies including:
a) Adhering to work schedule and timely attendance of work hours, b) Partners with team members for best practices and outcomes, c) Cross-training and learning of new skills and maintaining competency in skills already gained, d) Articulates full understanding of who/where to go if questions/problems arise.
13) Maintains equipment used on the job and reports any maintenance issues.
14) Has a working knowledge of all gauge calibrations used for the job.
15) Keeps open line of communication with management (i.
e.
, Lead, Assistant Site Manager, Site Manager).
16) Fully understands ISO 9001 Quality System and sees that it is followed in the department and in all other Schilling Inc.
Departments.
17) Participates in mandatory training and retraining for aspects of work quality and safety practice.
18) Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE o High School Graduate or GED o Experience in a manufacturing setting a plus especially with a labor type position in fabrication production or customer tooling.
o Experience with using an ERP based system is preferred.
